Schwinn World Tandem
#3349
This Schwinn World Tandem Frame has 24 Inch seat tubes front and rear. It is a dual steering tandem, unfortunately, it is missing the parts which connect the rear steerer tube to the fork crown. I undertand why a tandem which is made for a lady to ride in the front would be dual steering, but why would a tandem like this be dual steering? My Ide tandem is also for two men and dual steering. As you can see in the photos, this frame has a damaged rear end. It is also missing the seat posts (1 inch diameter) and seats, the handlebars and stems, the wheels, 1/4" block chains, the pedals and the head badge. It does have remnants of the original paint with a complete "The World" decal on the down tube and remnants of another The World" decal on the upper boom tube. It also has remnants of box pin striping. It also has a nickel plated fork. Instead of having an eccentric bottom bracket, it has a chain tensioner. I find it odd that it has a one piece crank in the front and three piece cottered cranks in the rear. I think that the first year for one piece cranks may have been 1897. For now, this frame will be a wall hanger, as I collect the missing parts. When I have all of the missing parts, I will repair the frame and restore the bike.
Some of the questions that I have about this tandem are:
What year was it made?
What hubs and rims did it have?
What was the rear axle spacing?
What pedals did it have?
What seats and seat posts did it have?
Does 3349 represent the 3349th bicycle that Scwhinn made?
If you have any of the parts that it needs or have a similar tandem, or a catalog showing this tandem, please email me chris@fattiretrading.com

The photo below shows the head tube and the head badge holes. It has three holes, two near the top and one near the bottom. From the bottom hole to the highest hole is 3 inches. The two top holes are 1/4 inch apart.
